How to Rank on Google Maps in Bangladesh
To rank better on Google Maps in Bangladesh, start with a verified and accurate Google Business Profile, choose the right category, keep your business details complete, earn genuine reviews, strengthen your website and local mentions, and measure the searches and actions that matter. You can improve relevance and prominence, but you cannot control how close each searcher is to your business.
How Google Maps ranking works
Google Maps rankings are not a single score that you can push up with one trick. A search for “restaurant near me” in Dhanmondi and the same search in Uttara can show different businesses because the searcher is in a different place. The same is true for plumbers, clinics, furniture stores, salons, lawyers and other local businesses across Bangladesh.
Google describes three main local ranking factors: relevance, distance and prominence. That gives you a useful way to decide what to work on first.
| Factor | What it means | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Relevance | How closely your business matches the search. | Use accurate categories, services and complete business information. Make your website clearly explain what you offer. |
| Distance | How far the business is from the searcher or location named in the query. | Use your real location or an honest service area. Do not create fake addresses to chase other areas. |
| Prominence | How well known and trusted the business appears online and offline. | Earn genuine reviews, build useful local mentions and links, and strengthen your website’s organic visibility. |
1. Claim and verify the correct Google Business Profile
If the profile is not claimed or verified, fix that before you spend time on advanced tactics. Verification tells Google that an authorized person represents the business and unlocks normal profile management.
Search your exact business name and city first. Make sure you are working on the correct profile, not creating a second listing for the same location. Duplicate profiles can create confusion for customers and for Google.
2. Choose the most accurate primary category
Your primary category is one of the clearest ways to explain what the business actually is. Choose the closest available category to your core business, not a broad category just because it has more search volume.
For example, a dental clinic should use the most specific appropriate dental category available. A takeaway-only pizza business should not select a dine-in restaurant category if that is not how the business operates. Additional categories can cover real secondary parts of the business, but they should not become a list of every service you sell.
Do not add keywords to the business name unless they are part of the real-world name. Google’s guidelines say the profile name should match the name used on signage, stationery and other branding. Adding “best dentist Dhaka” or a list of areas to the name can create policy risk.
3. Complete the profile with accurate customer-facing information
A complete profile gives Google more context and gives customers fewer reasons to leave and check a competitor. Review the details that affect a real buying decision: address or service area, phone number, website, opening hours, business description, services, attributes and photos.
Keep the information current. If Eid, Puja, a public holiday or a temporary closure changes your operating hours, update special hours rather than leaving customers to discover the change at the door.
Use a phone number that reaches the actual business. If customers normally contact you by phone or WhatsApp, make sure the number shown across your profile and website is consistent and monitored during the hours you publish.
4. Set the address or service area honestly
Storefront businesses should use a real location where customers can visit during stated hours. Service-area businesses—such as electricians, cleaning companies or repair services that travel to customers—should follow Google’s service-area rules rather than displaying a residential address that customers cannot visit.
Google currently allows service-area businesses to define up to 20 service areas and recommends keeping the overall area realistic. Adding more cities does not turn one business into many physical locations. A virtual office that is not genuinely staffed is not a safe shortcut.
5. Make your website support the same local story
Your website should confirm what the Business Profile says. Use the same business identity, explain your main services clearly, show where you genuinely operate, and make the phone number and contact path easy to find.
For a business with a real location, a strong location page can explain the address, opening details, nearby service context and how customers should contact or visit. For a service-area business, useful service pages can explain what you do and the areas you actually serve without copying the same page dozens of times with only the city name changed.

6. Build a steady flow of genuine customer reviews
Reviews help potential customers judge a business, and Google explicitly says review count and positive ratings can contribute to local ranking. The goal is not to collect a burst of artificial five-star reviews. It is to make review requests a normal part of good customer service.
Ask after a real transaction or completed service. Google provides a review link and QR code that businesses can share. For a Bangladesh business, that can fit naturally into a receipt, thank-you message, email or a normal WhatsApp follow-up—provided the review reflects the customer’s genuine experience.
Do not pay for reviews, offer a discount in exchange for a positive rating, or pressure customers to change negative feedback. Google treats incentivized review activity as fake engagement. Reply to reviews calmly and specifically when a response is useful.
7. Add real, useful photos instead of decorative stock images
Good profile photos reduce uncertainty. A storefront photo helps a visitor recognize the entrance. Interior photos show what the place feels like. Product, service and team photos help a customer decide whether the business looks legitimate and relevant.
Use clear, well-lit images that represent reality. Avoid heavy filters, fake environments and promotional graphics that make it difficult to see the actual business. If you operate from a customer-facing location, refresh photos when the exterior, signage, menu, inventory or layout changes.
8. Strengthen prominence with real local mentions and links
Google says prominence is informed by information about a business across the web, including links, articles and directories. That means your Maps work should not stop inside the Business Profile.
Look for legitimate places where your business belongs: trade associations, supplier or partner pages, local chambers, respected local directories, event pages, news coverage, community organizations and relevant industry sites. A small number of accurate, credible mentions is more useful than submitting the business to hundreds of low-quality directories.
Keep the core business details consistent when you control them. If a directory has the wrong phone number or an old address, correct it rather than creating a second version.
9. Publish pages that answer local buying questions
Your website can support local discovery by answering the questions customers ask before they call or visit. A furniture shop might publish delivery-area details and care guides. A clinic might explain appointment types and preparation. A restaurant might keep its menu, hours and reservation details current.
Do not create thin pages for every district, road or neighborhood just to repeat the same keywords. Each page should exist because it helps a real customer. This is also how this article avoids cannibalizing our commercial Google Maps SEO service: this page teaches the process, while the service page is for businesses that want implementation support.
10. Track visibility and customer actions, not one screenshot
A single “I rank number three” screenshot can be misleading because Maps results change by location, device, query and time. Use a wider set of signals.
Google Business Profile performance reporting can show searches, views and customer actions such as calls, direction requests and website clicks when those metrics apply to the business. Pair that with Google Search Console for website queries and landing-page performance.
Track the same useful measures each month:
- search terms that trigger the profile;
- calls, direction requests and website clicks from the profile;
- review volume, quality and response process;
- organic traffic to local and service pages;
- lead quality, not just impressions;
- visibility from more than one point in the service area when local rank tracking is used.
What this looks like for Bangladesh businesses
A restaurant in Dhanmondi
Use the correct restaurant category, publish accurate opening and special hours, keep menu and contact links working, add current exterior and food photos, and make review requests part of the normal post-visit process. The website should clearly confirm the location, menu and booking or contact method.
An AC repair company serving Uttara and nearby areas
If customers do not visit the business address, use the service-area setup correctly and hide the address when required. Add the real services offered, use a local phone number, publish useful service information on the website, and build genuine reviews from completed jobs. Do not create fake offices in every target area.
A retail shop in Chattogram
Keep the exact store name, location, opening hours and phone number consistent. Add recognizable storefront and product photos, maintain the website location details, and earn local mentions where the shop genuinely participates in the community or industry.
Common mistakes that hold back Google Maps visibility
- Keyword-stuffing the business name: use the real-world brand name instead.
- Choosing the wrong primary category: pick the category that best describes what the business is.
- Using a fake or virtual location: follow storefront and service-area eligibility rules.
- Leaving hours, phone or website details outdated: customers and Google both need reliable information.
- Buying reviews or offering incentives: this creates policy and trust risk.
- Publishing dozens of near-duplicate city pages: build useful local pages only where there is genuine customer value.
- Measuring only one keyword from one device: local results move with the searcher’s location and context.
- Expecting instant results after edits: profile changes and ranking improvements do not have a guaranteed timetable.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to rank on Google Maps in Bangladesh?
There is no fixed or guaranteed timeline. Competition, proximity, profile history, website strength, review profile and the quality of your corrections all matter. Track improvement over weeks and months rather than expecting a specific position by a specific date.
Can I pay Google to rank my Business Profile higher?
No. Google states that there is no way to request or pay for a better organic local ranking. Ads are a separate product and do not buy a higher organic Maps position.
Do more Google reviews guarantee a top-three Maps ranking?
No. Reviews can contribute to prominence and help customers choose you, but Maps ranking also depends on relevance, distance and other prominence signals. Genuine, steady reviews are useful; a guaranteed ranking from a review count is not realistic.
Can a service-area business rank without showing its home address?
Yes, if the business is eligible as a service-area business and follows Google’s rules. If customers are not served at the address, the address should be hidden and the real service areas should be set accurately.
Should I create a new Google Business Profile for every city I serve?
No. A service-area business should not create profiles for cities where it has no eligible staffed location. Use the correct service-area setup and support wider organic visibility with useful website content instead of fake locations.
